Three Upcoming Discussions of Interest

2009 is flying by; three upcoming events worth slowing down for to catch up on world changing innovation are:

Incentive 2 Innovate (June 8,9; New York, NY): Hosted by the X-Prize Foundation, this two day conversation will look at the future of open collaboration and incentive prizes as vehicles to produce value – economic, social, etc. I’m most interested in the track related to Global Development, though I’m surprised it is limited to Ashoka and USAID. The World Bank’s Development Marketplace (among many others) could round out discussion. Looking forward to learning from Charlie Brown, Arianna Huffington, Dwayne Spradlin, and Andreas Wilmer among others.

BIF 5 Summit (October 7,8; Providence, RI): The Business Innovation Factory (BIF) Summit uses a storytelling format to present engaging points of view on creating environments to spur creativity and innovation. The two day event isn’t organized by tracks as much as it peppers the days with a diverse and interesting line-up of story tellers. Some stories I’m looking forward to hearing are from John Maeda, Neri Oxman, Don Tapscott and Jocelyn Wyatt.

PopTech (October 21-24; Camden, ME): PopTech this year is focused on America, re-imagined. Conference notes suggest that there will be a focus on the nation’s business model, and the opportunities in education, energy, and entrepreneurship among other sectors. If I were able to get there, I’d look forward to connecting with PopTech fellows along with the likes of Kelly Dobson and Van Jones.
